Are We Having Fun Yet?: Helping Clients Navigate Sobriety and Recovery
The path to recovery is a journey of “fits and starts”, as clients work to maintain their sobriety while developing new coping skills. A significant aspect of this path is the realization that recovery is not always a celebration. In fact, the first part of the journey must always include grief.
This workshop will explore the Kubler-Ross Stages of Grief, and apply them to the recovery process. Through the use of lecture, film, case studies, therapeutic exercises, and personal exploration, therapists will leave this workshop prepared to gently guide their clients from the pain of denial, anger, bargaining, and depression, to the serenity of acceptance and peace. You will prepared to assure your clients that after the pain of loss, there will limitless possibilities for joy, laughter, and fun.
