Trauma Healing Through Narrative Sand Therapy – Level II
Narrative Sand Therapy helps clients represent emotional trauma and share their journey towards healing and renewal. In this workshop, participants will learn how narrative empowers clients to externalize and give voice to their experiences. We will process how symbols, myths, and metaphors converge for rich descriptions wherein experience can be expressed, contained, witnessed and honored. Grounded in existential, constructionist, Jungian and Erickson theory, this experiential training will enhance participants’ insights about the use of sand, symbols and story. We will focus on the role of the clinician in the process, the integrity of work with sand, and the deepening interpersonal connections in Narrative Sand Therapy. Clinicians will learn how this modality is particularly useful with traumatized clients.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe narrative techniques for trauma clients when using sand.
- Learn how to validate and amplify the client’ s experience through narrative sand work.
- Describe ethical and cultural aspects of narrative sand therapy as it applies to trauma work.
