Using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) for Affect Regulation and Trauma Healing

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), developed by Gary Graig, has been demonstrated by research to be one of the more effective treatments for trauma.  EFT uses the ancient concepts of meridian energy flow throughout our bodies to produce inner calm and healing.  One of the foundational EFT constructs proclaims that all negative emotions, including irrational fear and anxiety, is the result of a disruption or imbalance within that meridian energy system.  Traumas or other hurtful experiences cause energy imbalance and that imbalance becomes part of the memory. When a healthy balanced energy system is restored while one is thinking about one of those disturbing experiences, the energy imbalance is no longer part of the memory; therefore, the memory loses its power and control over present life.

Participants will learn to use EFT to reduce or eliminate their own fears/phobias, anxieties, as well as, the effects of past traumas and anger buttons by balancing or correcting their body’s meridian energy system.  Elimination of anger/frustration buttons enables parents/spouses to become free to respond to their children/spouses rather than react with negative and harmful outbursts.

Participants will also learn to use this effective tool to reduce fear, anxiety and anger of clients within time spans would be unimaginable with traditional talk therapies.  Most phobias can be eliminated in 1 – 3 sessions without leaving the session room.  Most single event traumas, except for violent sexual traumas, are, typically, resolved in 1 -2 sessions.

Participants will learn to use EFT  with the “Story Telling” and the “Make a Movie” techniques.
